THE MONEY PIT (EX-GATSBY’S AMERICAN DREAM) SET SEPTEMBER 4th RELEASE DATE FOR NEW RECORD
OFFERS FREE DOWNLOAD OF 4 NEW SONGS FROM UPCOMING ALBUM, WEST COAST TOUR DATES W/ ACCEPTANCE
(July 10th 2015) Seattle-based indie rock vets Bobby Darling and Nic Newsham (formerly of Gatsby’s American Dream) have recently revealed their new post-punk collaboration, The Money Pit, and are set to release their self-titled debut on September 4th. Produced by Casey Bates (Portugal. The Man, Pierce the Veil), the record evokes the garage rock sound of early The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, while retaining signature elements that Gatsby’s longtime fans will recognize.
“I think it was important to step away from what we were doing in Gatsby’s and gain some earned perspective,” notes Newsham, “This record is vital, it’s alive, it’s dangerous. It’s everything that we turned to music for in the first place.” Darling adds, “It’s refreshing coming to the process with no pretense, without this voice in the back of your head, fucking with you all the time about how people might receive your music. ‘Is this cool?’ It’s like, ‘Fuck no, you’re not cool, you never were, and nobody else is either. But you can be true, and there’s value in that.’”
To promote the upcoming release, the band is giving away four songs from their upcoming self-titled release as a free download for a limited time at www.moneypitmusic.com, along with tour dates and merchandise for sale. They begin a run of sold-out west coast tour dates with Acceptance on July 11th in Seattle.
